Individual Dental Insurance

Please read this blog before calling us about Individual Dental Insurance at 425-802-2783 or health@achieve-alpha.com.

If you need more dental work get dental insurance, if you don’t just cash pay. However, often times the Ameritas Dental plan is such a great deal with their discounts and low monthly price it pays to get it (and covers up to $2,000 per person per year for major dental issues like a root canal or crown).

There is no such thing as a great individual dental insurance. Typically the people that ask specifically for dental coverage have more dental needs. In general a group plan has better benefits since they are able to spread the costs across all the employees (especially those that don’t use as much dental services).

One key disadvantage of getting Individual Dental Insurance is that you need to keep the plan for an entire year (with Delta Dental, yet Ameritas you can cancel anytime).

Ameritas Dental Insurance: Overall its a good dental plan for the price. When you click the 1st and 2nd plans listed those cover dentists in the Ameritas nationwide network. If you want to see any dentist I would recommend getting the slightly more expensive 3rd or 4th plans listed. On those you can go to any dentist, yet if they are in the network it costs you less to see your dentist. Any dentist is listed with a green highlighted name is the lowest cost to you, if they are listed with their name in grey it they take your plan yet you pay a bit more for services. If the dentist is not listed, you can see see them if you choose the 3rd or 4th plan listed from the top.

BEST PRICE DENTAL PLAN: For Ameritas Dental (they generally cover about 75% of dentists), check to see if your dentist is in the AMERITAS DENTAL NETWORK HERE. If they take your dentist sign up for the 2nd choice from the top called the “Advantage Plus Network 2000“. If your dentist is NOT in the Ameritas Dental Network choose the 4th option or pick a Delta Dental Plan.

If you want to see a specific dentist, then you want the Delta Dental plan. We typically recommend the Premium Plan, as its a bit more expensive than the other Enhanced plan by about $9/mo Delta Dental plans, yet provides significantly more value! It really does. So be smart and choose the Premium Plan. If you choose one of the cheaper plans you will be disappointed in the future. Since services are covered up front there is a 12-month waiting period for Major Dental services (Crowns & Root Canals), however if you had prior group coverage that is ending you have up to a 60 day period to enroll in a plan. In that case the Major Services would be covered at the beginning of the sales period. You will need to input your prior Delta Dental or other dental insurance ID number when applying.
